Genital Herpes is one of the most widespread sexually transmitted diseases (STD), and it has been estimated that one out of every five people carry the virus. Genital Herpes is highly contagious, and sometimes it takes just one sexual contact to get infected. There is hardly a more dismal feeling than the one you get at discovering you have a virus living inside your body.

Genital Herpes sufferers often have no signs for years and unknowingly infect their significant others.

Genital Herpes symptoms usually occur about two weeks after the sexual contact. Those include small fluid-filled blisters that eventually break and form sores. The disease affects the genitals and adjacent areas. Not infrequently, signs are less noticeable and hence they can be mistaken for bug bites, pimples, razor burn, etc.

Genital Herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). There is also Oral Herpes, caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). Oral Herpes affects areas around the mouth, and this type is more common than Genital Herpes.

So far, there is no viable cure against either Genital or Oral Herpes. Medical research has only come up with medicines that help relieve symptoms but still unable to get the virus out of the body.
